 Ayşe A. Küçükdeveci, M.D., is a full professor at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Medical Faculty of Ankara University, Ankara, Turkey. She received her MD from Hacettepe University in 1985. After completing her specialty training on “physical medicine and rehabilitation” in Ankara University in 1991, she continued her academic career at the same Department. She worked as a visiting doctor for six months at the Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Research Unit, University of Leeds in 1992-1993. She made contributions to the establishment of the Hand Rehabilitation and Neurological Rehabilitation Units at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Ankara University, Medical Faculty. In 2001, she was appointed as Professor at the same Department, being responsible from both clinical and academic work.

 She took part as the coordinator or investigator in various national and international research projects.  She has extensive experience on assessment and outcome measurement and has undertaken the cultural adaptation and validation studies of various outcome measures used in the field of rheumatology and rehabilitation (e.g. Barthel Index, Functional Independence Measure, Mini-Mental State Examination, Health Assessment Questionnaire, etc.). Her main interest areas are neurological rehabilitation, hand rehabilitation, assessment and outcome measurement in rheumatology and rehabilitation, neuropathic pain and spondyloarthritis. She authored over 120 publications including articles in peer-reviewed international /national journals and chapters in national and international text-books. 

 She is the member of the International Society of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine, European Society of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine and the World Federation for Neurorehabilitation. She was the president of the local organizing committee of the 8th World Congress on NeuroRehabilitation which took place in Istanbul on 8-12 April 2014. She has editorial responsibilities in international journals and serving as the Associate Editor of Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine since 2012.  She has been the Turkish delegate for the Union of European Medical Specialists, Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine Section and Board since 2009.
