Summarized Biography of Gelengül Haktanır
has completed her bachelors degree at Hacettepe University in the department
of home economics on Child Development and Education between1976-1981; and her
masters and doctorate education at Ankara University on Child Development
Between1981-1984, she worked as a preschool teacher;
in 1984 she was appointed as a research assistant to Ankara University Faculty
of Home Economics, Department of Child Development. In 1994 she was appointed
to the staff of assistant professors in the same department, and in 1997 she
received the title and authority of Associate Professor in the Department of
Child Development and Education.
In 1999 she was appointed to the staff of
associate professors in A.U. Faculty of Educational Sciences, Department of
Elementary School-Preschool Education, and in 2004 she was appointed as a
professor. Alongside her duties as a professor, she is continuing her education
and studies by participating in various educational seminars, conventions,
conferences, and workshops in Turkey as well as in many different countries.
Since 1998 she is the president of national
committee of World Organization for Early Childhood Education (Organisation
Mondiale Pour L'Education Prescolaire OMEP); Association for the Development
of Early Childhood Education in Turkey - ADECET.
Since 2002 she
is continuing her membership on the advisory board of Mother-Child Education
Foundation (Anne Çocuk Eğitim Vakfı-AÇEV); and since 2006 she is a member of TÜBİTAK
Books Publication Consultation and Assessment Council. Since 2011 she has been
carrying the duties as a Preparation and Scientific Advisory Committee Member
for the Kids TEMA Environmental Education Program which was prepared by The Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion
(TEMA) and Association for the Development of Early Childhood
Education in Turkey (ADECET) and being applied around the country by the
voluntary preschool teachers. Between 2006-2012, she was a member of TÜBİTAK Curious
Pupy-Meraklı Minik Children Magazine Publication Council.
She is working in Ankara Universitys and
Faculty of Educational Sciences administrative jobs and commissions while also
making contributions to Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education Basic
Education Head Offices in-service education seminars, and all the voluntary
work of the Foundation that she is the president of.
the spring semester of 2011, as a guest scholar, she has conducted observations
and examinations, and attended scientific meetings at the State University of
New York at Binghamton in United States.
She is still working as a professor in Ankara
