Fahrettin Özdemirci, born in Niksar in 1964, completed his bachelor’s degree in Department of Information and Records Management in Ankara University, Faculty of Languages, History and Geography in 1986. In 1989, he got his master’s degree on Information and Records Management from Social Sciences Institution, and in 1995 he got his doctor’s degree with his thesis under the topic of “Controlling of Records Production”.
Özdemirci worked as a civil servant in Kızılbey Tax Office of Ministry of Finance between 1986-1988, and worked in Gazi University Library and Documentation Department between 1988-1999. In 1990, he started to work as assistant in Department of Information and Records Management in Ankara University, Faculty of Languages, History and Geography. In 1999, he became assistant associate professor and then associate professor in 2007. Özdemirci, member of the Board of Directors in Ankara University, Faculty of Languages, History and Geography between 2000-2005 and Vice Chairman of Department of Information and Records Management in Ankara University, Faculty of Languages, History and Geography between 2005-2009, and he was assigned as the Coordinator of “Ankara University Records Management and Archive System (BEYAS)” in 2007.

He won the Emily Dean secondary prize, which is given on behalf of American Library Association, for the bachelor’s thesis he studied in Department of Librarianship in Ankara University, Faculty of Languages, History and Geography in 1986.  In 1987, he won the first rank prize in the composition competition themed “Book and Library” arranged by Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Turkey. His doctorate study on Records Management in 1995 was published with the name “Control of Records Production in Institutions and Foundations and Records Management” by İstanbul Branch of Turkish Librarians Association in 1996. Also in 2005, his book named “Correspondence Method and Filing Procedures”, written by two authors, was published. In 2000, he worked as one of the project executors in the Project of Transferring the National Library’s Records to Computer System.   “The Project of Development of Records Management and Archive System in Universities (BEYAS)” he prepared in 2007, has been supported by Ankara University, General Directorate of State Archives and The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and he completed this project in November 2009. He prepared a guide book on records management and archive system model for universities he exposed in his study of the project. The guide book was presented to Higher Education Council by Prime Ministry General Directorate of State Archives in order to apply in all universities. “Modelling of Transition Process of e-Records Management and Archiving System in Universities (e-BEYAS-M)” he prepared in 2010, was supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), Ankara University and General Directorate of State Archives and he began to execute the project in April 2011. The purpose of the project, in which the necessities to manage the transition process of electronic records management and archiving system effectively for institutions are determined, is being initiator of development of the sustainable e-records systems by fictionalizing and modelling of system design architecture. Özdemirci, who continues his academic studies on records management and archives, continues to study on records management, archive management, institutional records management, information laws, electronic records management and digital archiving.
